Best things in life are free

I wished the internet was widely available when I was in college (yea, that was a looong time ago), then I wouldn’t have to spend so much money on books. Below are sites of free resources I frequently visit:

Project Gutenberg has a collection of more than 13,000 free electronic books from classics authors such as Shakespeare, Poe, Dante, Twain and even Proust (I’m still in Volume 1). They even have books in 30 different languages like French, Korean, Tagalog and even Yiddish. You can download these e-books for free and store it on your Palm, Pocket PC, smart phones or even your iPod.

Free Programming Resources is a directory of online computer programming books, tutorials, compilers, tools, etc. And of course, they are all for free. This is a great site when you need to refresh your computer language skills, like C/C++, HTML or java scripts.

Squashed Philosophers is an online cliff notes of the best works from the greatest western philosophers of our time. Now you can catch up from all those times you slept through Philosophy 101, so you won’t feel like a tool when someone makes references to Hobbes or Nietzsche during conversations with your "snobbish" friends.

Internet Public Library is, well, an online public library. It’s a good resource site for those times when Google just doesn’t quite cut it.
